"I think we are in rats' alley - Where the dead men lost their bones."
hmm interested. I've not taken the plunge yet to go for a South Staffs impression due to....
wishing that i owned a suitable rifle - i saw No.4 full woodset today for £50, but wondered about the RS metal works, as the receiver takes the butt, and i have no suitable AS project to hand.
Warren's fine looking Lee Enfields are out of my league price wise ![]()
also i may follow Major's thoughts on badges earned in RL and go for Glider Pilot, since i qualified and went on to do instructor training.
Well a 1911 for South Staffs is just as good as the Victory Revolver anyway...
Don't stress...
Sidearms were pretty rare for most soldiers in the British Army in WW2 anyway. Only really Officers, higher ranking NCOs and those without a long weapon (eg drivers) would carry them.
I suggest you concentrate on getting the uniform and main weapon right...
Not stressing Yith, just preparing my case to put before the Mrs,
you know how they can be at times
Sadly, I wont have my full kit sorted unit after crimbo, but I'll make a start on it ASAP!
I'll probably play with either K98 or MP40/Thompson until a way to get a reasonably priced Enfield no.4 becomes available.
Warrens look fantastic, but I cant afford to front that much for a gun.
I was hoping to come to my first event with you chaps early next year, I was either gonna go Ami's or "The dark side", but as Gadge has said else where it'd look superb if we could get a full section to put in!
You've probably considered it, but if you focus around the Enfield as the primary weapon you may be outgunned by Axis forces who tend to have MP40 as primary . The Kar 98s tend to get used as and when rather than all the time .
I'm beggining to regret selling the Sten now ![]()
Does anyone happen to have a DIY Lee-Enfield guide, out of interest?

Although a rifle group of four+ lee enfields wil grossly outrange lads with mp40s (historically acurate)

When I made my no.4 the way I did the woodwork was to make the stock and lower hand gaurd all from one peice of wood. This way you got around the problem of having to try and figure out how to secure the stock to the rest of the gun. This means that you can then use almost any aps reciever and mech on the market as you can always make the measurements on the wood slightly larger than the real one so everything fits easier. If you realy wanted the rifle to look acurate you could always add a metal band when the stock joins the rest of the gun so it looks right but is just cosmetic.

4 lee enfileds should put up a reasonable amount of long range fire. but if its windy , or close in, you had better have a rubber bayonet ![]()

i think this may be my next issue o fkit, after xmas mind yu but in the pipeline now.
Gadge add my name to your list
it will be with mp40 or 98k for immediate future
Even if we get hammered by MP40s it'll still be fun trying and at least we'll look the part (our dead bodies will anyway).
Although I reckon if we heroically pave the way and soldier on with bolt actions then all those K98s gathering dust or getting built will also start getting used a bit more because they won't be up against 30 Thompsons with hicaps. In no time we'll have loads of people with rifles.
That being said, what about Minimum Engagement Distances? Does it change depending on where you play, or do you have a set CiA distance?

That would be a really nice situation - more rifles than smg's I do feel sad for my K98,since it doesn't see much light of day, although I do love it.
well Jeremy and self are badged up as polar bears (49 Recce)although I have a BD badged up as 49th Div Int Corps as well... we have 1 tommy gun, 1 MP40 and 1 M1911 Colt. (BTW anyone had problems with their TM Colt where it only seems to have gas for one shot????????)
Hi All
Would like to join as well. I will need some new BD as mine is badged to 2 KSLI. As I see the cheaper options seem to exist I am fine to get another set and a Dension.
I have an Enfield from Warren with or without a scope as required.
What suggestions do we have for meeting up or even training???
Regards
John

Cool stuff!
I suggest just getting a denison and wearing it over your existing BD to start off with nobody will see the insignia anyway... In fact if its warm you won't want to wear a jacket anyway!
Then if you want get a second jacket or re-badge (etc) whatever you prefer...
Training, now that's an interesting question... I believe there were plans for this... but that's not my area... Gadge?
Leave it with me.
I'll try and sort us out a set of traing days.
Do people want all fieldcraft or would they like to learn basic drill, a bit of regiment history etc?
I'd personally like to do about 80 per cnet field craft and tactics with 10 per cent drill and 10 per cent 40s knowledge.
Reason being is that we can learn to move and shoot as a team but i think it woudl make more sense to do it liek a 40s section than modern airsofters
*and* if and when we mix with re-enactors or the public we can explain what the given regiment we are playing were all about and hopefull be able to march in step, halt at the same time etc.!
dotn worry i wouldt expect wonders, just liek to see folk know how to come to attetnion, aslute properly, turn on the march etc
apologies for typos, fast post, lots to do , little time to do it in

You can count me in! Now that my US kit's about the level I want it at, barring a few bits and pieces, I fancy a new challenge.

John, Kavster... (anyone else who's posted)
You're all in... ![]()
Guys so we know you're in it woudl be great if you could use the pbi banner and avatar frame, that way we just get more profile and hopefully attract more guys up for brit kit.
We could be *the* force to be reckoned wiht in wwii airsofting.
BTW i'm currently putting togehter a training programme for a series of 'basic training' days.
